Peter A. Stokes, Esq., Executive Director
Peter A. Stokes is the Executive Director of the Mississippi Pharmacists Association (MPhA) and serves as the association’s primary spokesperson. He is responsible for the day-to-day management of MPhA, the Mississippi Pharmacy Foundation (MPF), and the MPhA Political Action Committee (Pharm-PAC). Mr. Stokes currently serves on the PACE Alliance Board of Directors, and is the managing editor of the Mississippi Pharmacists Association journal, the MPhA E-Newsletter and all MPhA social media.
Mr. Stokes has extensive experience in political and government affairs arenas. He served the Georgia House of Representatives as a Legislative Aide to the House Minority Whip during the 2003 and 2004 legislative sessions, working closely with House Committee Chairs, the House Minority Counsel and Deputy Whips. He also provided daily legislative briefs detailing the status of critical legislation to the 72 member caucus.
After the 2004 legislative session, Mr. Stokes agreed to serve as the Political Director for Gen. Grant Brantley’s campaign for the Georgia Supreme Court. In this capacity, Mr. Stokes spearheaded the campaign’s grassroots program and campaign tour, organizing and overseeing volunteers across 117 Georgia counties.
Later, during the 2006 and 2007 legislative sessions of the Georgia General Assembly, Mr. Stokes served as a contract lobbyist and a key legislative representative for the Medical Association of Georgia, Verizon, and Georgia Natural Gas. During this time, Mr. Stokes successfully planned many strategic government affairs initiatives and executed multiple advocacy measures.
A licensed Mississippi attorney, Mr. Stokes is a graduate of Mississippi College School of Law, where he was active in student affairs and served on the Executive Board of the Student Bar Association. He is the recipient of several academic awards including the American Jurisprudence Award for Healthcare Law and Public Policy and the American Jurisprudence Award for Trial Practice. He is also the recipient of the 2009 Mississippi Bar Award for the Health Law Section. Additionally, Mr. Stokes served the Mississippi House of Representatives as a Legal Extern to the House Public Health Committee during the 2010 legislative session.
Also during law school, Mr. Stokes served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Judge David M. Ishee of the Mississippi Court of Appeals. Later, Mr. Stokes was a Legal Fellow at the Mississippi State Medical Association, where he authored “Recovery Audit Contractors: Mississippi Physicians and Medicare Audits,” published in the Journal of the Mississippi State Medical Association in 2009. He later served as a Legal Extern at the Hinds County Attorney’s Office where, as a law student, he was admitted to the limited practice of law under the Law Student Limited Practice Act. During this time, Mr. Stokes prosecuted misdemeanors in the Hinds County Justice Court under the supervision of the Hinds County Attorney. Mr. Stokes also conducted shelter hearings in the Hinds County Youth Court to determine the placement of neglected/abused juveniles, and adjudicated minors in youth court trials on behalf of the State.
Prior to joining MPhA, Mr. Stokes worked as an Associate at Begley Law Firm, PLLC in Jackson, Mississippi and assisted the firm with various matters ranging from campaign and election law to labor and employment law.
Mr. Stokes resides in Jackson, Mississippi and attends Pinelake Church in Brandon, Mississippi. In his leisure time, he enjoys salt water fishing, golf, and marksmanship.

Anne Elise McIntosh, Director of Membership & Events
Anne Elise McIntosh is the Director of Membership, Communications and Events for MPhA. Anne Elise is responsible for the recruiting and retention of MPhA members throughout the state. She plans continuing education events for our members to participate in such as the Annual Convention and Trade Show, District Meetings, Consultant Seminar and etc. Building and maintaining relationships with potential and current new members is Anne Elise’s main focus as she travels across MS to different pharmacies. She also oversees the bi-weekly e-newsletters, press releases, and manages social media content.
Graduating from Mississippi State University, Anne Elise earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing. She currently serves on the board for Jackson Delta Gamma Alumnae as VP Foundation, formerly serving as Public Relations Chair. Upon graduation, Anne Elise worked for The Mississippi Bar as Communications Assistant where she worked with marketing, events, and various publications. Anne Elise enjoys playing league tennis and running in her spare time.
